Film Mentoring and Our Upcoming Workshop
Over the past year I have had many photographers reach out to me and ask me questions about film photography. Sometimes, it is just curiosity why would I choose an older, more expensive medium? Why wait to get your film scans back when you can have the instant gratification of digital? I answer these and other questions in my recent post HERE.
I also had lots of questions about metering, back light with film, harsh lighting on film, double exposures, pricing and marketing as a hybrid shooter.... the list goes on. I did my best to respond to everyone and absolutely loved the conversation that got started!! It reminded me how much I enjoy teaching and so recently I decided to roll out a one on one mentorship program!! I have hosted a couple, I have some in the works and I have a workshop in the works as well!!
Today I am over the moon, because my first mentorship I did this year was featured on Southern California Bride. As exciting as that is, I am even more excited to say I have watched my mentee, Maria, grow by leaps and bounds in her film photography! In fact, she recently posted a very cool double exposure on her IG which you should definitely take a look at HERE. I had such an amazing time putting together my first ever mentorship and I am ready to host more.
If you are new to film photography and don’t know where to start please reach out to me, I would love to help! I’ve been there and it is scary to add a new skill to your business. My goal in mentoring new film photographers is that you leave feeling ready to add film photography to your creative process. We will focus on metering, which film stocks to use, communicating with your lab, posing, directing, creating relationships with vendors, film matching and marketing as a hybrid photographer. If your interested in learning more about film photography we will be offering a film + florals workshop in Huntington Beach this July!! If you would like to get on the interest list you can e-mail me at email@example.com. Space is very limited with only 3-5 seats available, so don't miss out getting your foot in the door!
